Nature of grievance

Where a person, by any means, publishes, or cause to publish, or make or complaint of accusation of any offence, more particularly offences which attribute moral turpitude of the person, or any statement against any person, which is not true, and such statement was made without verifying the truthfulness of the statement, and where such statement impute dishonesty or otherwise is derogatory in nature, the statement which has the tendency to lower the image of the person, which he otherwise enjoys in the eyes of his family, friends, relatives, the society, community, business circles. The said person may bring a legal action for damages / compensation for defamation, within one year from the date of publication of concerned defamatory statement, under Article 75 of the Limitation Act, 1963
